Game watched: Wolves 2-1 Sheffield Wednesday
With the season over for me, being a Cheltenham Town fan, I thought I'd head to the nearest of the 92 grounds I'd not yet ticked off, Molineux, to take in the end of season game between Wolves and Sheffield Wednesday. I had to jump through hoops a little to get a ticket - online sales were only available to fans who'd bought home end tickets in the past, so after tweeting the club (and to be fair getting a very prompt response) I was able to ring up and buy one. The customer service on the ticket line was excellent, just as an aside.
My ticket was for the Sir John Hayward stand, which is a single tier stand located behind one of the goals. My end was packed, and the atmosphere was excellent, especially for an end of season game that was meaningless for both sides. The Wolves fans sang for the majority of the 90 minutes, and there was good banter had with the Wednesday fans close to our end. The match itself was enjoyable as well, especially the first half.
Molineux's location is fantastic - it's only a few minutes' walk from the city centre, and although I didn't partake as I was driving, there were loads of pubs in easy walking distance from the ground (although a number of them did have signs up proclaiming they were for home fans only). If you are driving, there is plenty of public parking close to the ground - I got parked about 5 minutes' walk away.
All in all, I had a very positive impression of Molineux. One of the better grounds I've visited.
