Game watched: Crystal Palace 3-0 Norwich City
As we lost comprehensively, I don’t want it to sound like sour grapes, and it may be owing to covid and not having a full crowd (but then that says something in itself), but for a ground that’s supposed to be one of the best for atmosphere, it was a bit disappointing. First 5 mins it was silent from the home support until they got gifted a pen and went 1-0 up. Later in the first half it got a bit noisier but then they were 3-0 up. Second half was limited noise again when your team are winning 3-0. In fact, the away end was far louder and more frequent, and it was mostly jovial, pretending to celebrate a goal or singing songs of past. There were a few songs of how bad we were or reactions to the negative of what was happening on the pitch. Then there’s the ground. The front side of it was plastered with Sainsburys and Argos. Thought it was the St James Park of the South East! You have the weighing up of an old ground and then the facilities provided. Whilst it was a squeeze to walk around, the facilities were reasonable for an older ground. Although some of the spaces were outside which were fine today as it was dry. Prince George pub beforehand was decent, stood on the street in the sun with a pint of Wolfpack. A miserable result and performance with the entire core of the team missing, but doubt at this moment we would have done anything today even if that wasn’t the case.
