Before I begin the negativity, obviously Norwich losing 4-0 could have a negative impact on the ratings but I have tried to not let this impact my opinion or ratings. Big fan of Manchester as a City, visited the Arndale for food pre game then got the tram out to the ground. Went to the ‘fanzone’ at the cricket club, was approx 90 mins pre game but not many people there and an outdoor space so great in sunny months, not so good for winter. The number of unofficial merch sellers is mind-boggling - spaces every 10 metres along length of stand. Away space was strange, was separated from the bulk of Norwich fans, but the away fans seem to be split into 3 parts which is a bit of a shame, to the point that you’re split off from other fans in the concourse. The steps down in the S22 section to the seats are huge, I was on the end of the aisle and everyone was having issues with it but no warning from staff or stewards. Atmosphere was dross, they call it Threatre of Dreams, was more like Silent Night. Fans barely celebrated their first goal which was much needed for them after their previous performance vs Man City. Took until they were 3-0 up for the fans to sing pretty much anything other than the odd quiet hum of Red Army - inventive! They got a clap and chant going after 4th goal - turns out it was regarding getting the Glaziers out. Laughable in the circumstances when they are one of the biggest spending clubs in the world. Everyone claims it’s the best supported club in the world, guess that’s easy when your winning multiple silverware every year under Fergie, not so easy when you are ‘Just a top 6 club’!! Norwich fans stuck around in numbers to clap the team at the end and sing for the manager, whereas most of the home ends had emptied before the final whistle had gone. Water was £2.50 for a standard bottle that then gets poured into a plastic couple - why not just provide tap water! Easy enough to get out after, you get wedged into the trams to the point it’s uncomfortable but doesn’t really get managed in terms of numbers going into each set of doors. Another one ticked off, shame about the score and atmosphere!
