BurnSand visited Sincil Bank on 23/10/2018
Game watched: Lincoln City 2-2 Carlisle United
This was the third game on my October 2018 tour. I had come up from London in the morning reaching Lincoln at noon. I found the Holiday Inn where I was staying and had lunch before walking up to the cathedral that always was on the front cover of the old Imps match programmes. A highlight in town was the "Back to Mono" record store where I ended up spending £100. I found Lincoln to be a delightful town for tourists that I would like to come back to see more of.
When it was time for the game I headed out to locate a Wetherspoon for dinner. I ordered with my app and the unique thing was hat it didn't work. When I asked why I had only received a beer I was told that they couldn't serve me so I ended up getting a refund and instead buying a burger outside Sincil Bank.
With The Imps top of L2, the demand for tickets for a Tuesday game was unusual for L2 and it was only about a week before the game that they opened for general sale. I think I managed to get the last ticket to the large Co-op Stand. My seat neighbour was somewhat impressed that I had come all the way from Sweden to watch The Imps.
Carlisle in 11th position took the lead already in the 6th minute through Ashley Nadesan after some questionable defending from the home side. Michael O'Connor equalised with a fine shot from distance and then it was a reprise of the first goal in the 27th minute when Nadesan all to easily could make it 2-1 for the visitors. Bruno Andrarde concluded a lively first half with a soft goal from a free kick. In the second half, defence was a priority for both teams and it ended 2-2.
After the match, I walked back to my hotel. The next day I was to go down to Birmingham to revisit The Hawthorns.
