Game watched: Blackburn Rovers 1-2 Manchester United
This was the second game during a 4-games-in-4-days tour around my birthday in February 2017. This was my second match at Ewood Park as I had already been there in 2002 to watch a Premier League game between Blackburn and Fulham. At the time it was my 8th league ground.
I had phoned the Ewood Park ticket office and managed to talk myself in at the game since their were restrictions for those who wanted to attend as home supporters. I had no interest in supporting United. I arrived early to get lunch in town before the game. The pub was dominated by United supporters, so I left wuite early to find another pub closer to the ground. Fox & Hounds close to the ground was another story. It was filled with Rovers supporters and banners and signs that read 'Venky's out'.
The game started well for Rovers who were second bottom in the Championship. Marvin Emnes found Danny Graham for a great opening goal, but ten minutes later United had equalised through Rashford when a big gap opened up in the Blackburn defence on a United counter attack. With 15 minutes remaining Pogba set up Zlatan Ibrahimovic for the winner.
