BurnSand visited Oakwell on 18/02/2017
Game watched: Barnsley 0-2 Brighton & Hove Albion
This was the first game during a 4-games-in-4-days tour around my birthday in February 2017. Oakwell became my 69th league ground. I stayed at my favourite hotel in the North, in Bradford, so I had a day-return-ticket arriving around noon to Barnsley. I went up in town to get a couple of beers and lunch. The early kickoff was Burnley vs Lincoln City in the 5th round of the FA cup and in a Barnsley pub I watched Sean Raggett's crazy late winner for Lincoln that would earn them a trip to the Emirates. After that it was time to go down to Oakwell and pick up my £28 ticket for The Investment Room (East) Upper Stand.
Barnsley were in a safe mid-table position and Brighton were 2nd in the Championship before the game. The Seagulls had quite an impressive following up to Barnsley. After a goalless first half, Sam Baldock scored twice to give the visitors a 2-0 win that took them to the top of the league as Newcastle had a Monday game that weekend. I was going to be at St James when the Magpies regained their top position.
