Game watched: Derby County 4-2 Wolverhampton Wanderers

Third game in as many days during my October 2015 tour. I had stayed the night in Birmingham and was on a day-return ticket to Derby. I had a a pint ina pub in the city centre before walking out to Pride Park. There was a group of Germans walking next to me and from their discussion I understood they had been to QPR the day before.

This was a Sunday afternoon 1.15 kickoff and I was pleasantly surprised by the large number of females at the game. I sat in the West Stand Lower and had a good view of Chris Martin's opening goal for Derby. Wolves equalised through Benik Afobe before Martin added a second. On the stroke of half-time, he was given the chance to score a hat trick from the penalty spot but Martinez saved his soft pen. However, Bradley Johnson scored 3-1 from the resulting corner. The second half produced one goal for each team. Johnny Russell made it 4-1 before Adam Le Fondre's 4-2.

I stayed in a pub a while after the game and I was joined by three generations of Derby supporters at my table. Among the things we discussed were The Rams' newspaper-style programmes of the early seventies.
