Game watched: Bristol City 2-0 Nottingham Forest
Friday morning I had flown in to Heathrow and arrived by train already around 1pm at Bristol Temple Meads. I found my hotel which was close to the University. There was a bus stop not too far from it. I did some sight-seeing in the afternoon as the Clifton Suspension Bridge was within walking distance from where I stayed.
In the evening I took a bus down to Bristol city centre and walked from there to Ashton Gate. This was at the time when they were building a new western stand so attendance was limited and the ground more or less sold out around 15,000 on every game. This was no exception although the game was televised. Bristol City had just collected 7 points from their first 10 games and was at the bottom of the Championship. Forest were 10 places above in 14th place. To the home fans delight, Aaron Wilbraham scored twice within the first 11 minutes and that's the way it stayed. Jonathan Kodjia had been signed during the summer and my seat neighbour told me how much he had impressed despite City's early problems. I had seen Luke Freeman at Stevenage three years earlier and now he was involved in the buildup to the first goal. Lee Mason, a well know face from the Premier League, was in charge of the game.
After the game, I walked back to the hotel which took me a good 50 minutes. The morning after I took a taxi to the station to take the train to Birmingham for the next game.
