BurnSand visited Underhill on 23/03/2013
Game watched: Barnet 0-0 Cheltenham Town
I had done work in Oxford and stayed two extra nights in London to go to a game on Saturday. It was unusually cold for the season and on Saturday morning it looked like I could have drawn a blank. Barnet and Underhill became my saviour. The club had asked fans out in the morning to remove the snow and against all odds, there was a game on.
I found a pub near High Barnet station and much to my surprise, there were two other Swedes inside who were there for the game. We had a couple of pints together and told each other the story of what we were doing there.
At the ground, I got me a ticket to the Main Stand. The conditions were quite awful and at one time in the first half when the snow was falling heavily again, it looked like they could not go on if it continued. Luckily, it stopped and the game could be completed. Unsurprisingly it ended goalless. This was the seaon when Edgar Davids was head coach at Barnet and it didn't end well. Barnet were relegated on goal difference.
After the game, I resaw my new Swedish friends. It turned out we were all staying in the Paddington area, so we took another pint at The Mad Bishop & Bear. The next day I flew back home after visiting league ground #33.
