The first time I completed the 92, this is where it happened.  A fortuitous FA Cup first round draw provided the unexpected opportunity to do so with Southend and so it was wearing club colours that OldMaShrimper and I travelled to Deepdale on a bright and crisp Saturday.  Sir Tom Finney's statue outside the ground and likeness in the seats of the stand which bears his name gave provide a bit of interest, but I was sad to learn that the museum had recently closed.  The game itself was a battling performance against higher division opposition and Southend won through after a replay.  A memorable day was capped off by meeting Timmy Mallett who was giving a personal appearance in Leyland that evening, and who had spent the previous night in the same hotel as the Southend team!
