A Royal appointment at Turf Moor Burnley

turf moor burnley doing the 92

Blogger Peter Briers heads to Lancashire for the second leg of his triple header. Burnley was the destination as unbeaten on the road Reading were in town. Ground: Turf Moor 51/92 Game: Burnley 1-2 Reading Date: 26/09/2015 Thoughts on the ground: Turf Moor is one of grounds left on my 92 that I’d really been looking forward to ticking off, and I wasn’t disappointed. It is one of old style grounds that are a dying breed amongst the 92, sat in the heart of the community as opposed to off a ring road on some industrial estate. I took my… Read more »

92 before 30 – the Madejski Stadium Reading

Reading FC Madjeski Stadium selfie

Blogger Katie recounts a trip to the Madejski Stadium, the home of Reading as she continues her journey to reach the 92 club before turning 30. Ground: The Madejski Stadium Game: Reading 1-1 Cardiff Date: 04/04/2015 Thoughts on the ground: The Madejski is a purpose built out of town ground with a hotel built into the west stand. There are plenty of shuttle buses just outside the station which take you directly to the ground so it’s easy enough to get to. I find with many modern grounds (and this one is no different) that there doesn’t seem to be… Read more »

The Tricky Trees visit the John Smith’s Stadium

Huddersfield town john smith's stadium

Blogger Peter Briers hits his half century doing the 92, heading to Yorkshire as Huddersfield Town entertained Nottingham Forest. Ground: The John Smith’s Stadium 50/92 Game: Huddersfield Town 1-1 Nottingham Forest Date: 24/09/2015 Thoughts on the ground: I had earmarked the weekend of the 26th/27th to tick a couple of new grounds off my 92. With Middlesbrough’s clash with Leeds at the Riverside on the Sunday and Forest’s trip to Huddersfield on the Saturday completing the double – however my plans were scuppered by the latter being moved forward 48 hours for Sky, which I found ridiculous. I can understand… Read more »

91 down one to go at the Broadfield Stadium!

crawley town v yeovil town in league 2

They say doing the 92 is a marathon not a sprint, but the92.net blogger Tim Dove is now in the sprint – if this were the Marathon at the London Olympics he’d be entering the last 400 metres on the Olympic Stadium track… Ground: Broadfield Stadium 91/92 Game: Crawley Town 0-1 Yeovil Town Date: 19/09/2015 Thoughts on the ground: Crawley Town was one of the grounds remaining on my ‘to visit’ list for two reasons: my own side had yet to play here and the fact it was so far away from home. So it became my penultimate ground of… Read more »

Is there a buzz around the Hive Stadium?

Barnet's ground

It was 1 down 2 to go for blogger Tim Dove this weekend. As he closes in on the magical 92 mark Tim made the journey to the Hive Stadium, the new home of Barnet FC. Ground: The Hive 90/92 Game: Barnet 0-0 Cambridge United Date: 29/08/2015 Thoughts on the ground: I’d previously been to Barnet when they played at Underhill in 1999 but following their promotion as Champions from the now National League, this was an early opportunity to visit “The Hive”. Barnet FC moved to this purpose built stadium and training complex in 2013. The stadium itself can… Read more »

Revisiting the Kassam Stadium

kassam stadium oxford united

Blogger and Yeovil Town fan Peter returned to the Kassam Stadium as the Glovers looked to build on an impressive comeback against Luton. Ground: The Kassam Stadium 49/92 (2nd visit) Game: Oxford United 2-0 Yeovil Town Date: 29/08/2015 Being a Yeovil fan hasn’t been the most pleasant experience for the past couple of seasons. After successive relegations and pretty much an entire new squad, which haven’t really looked like starting to gel talk of the dreaded successive triple drop has started to rear its ever so ugly head. However after last weeks comeback from 2-0 down at Huish Park against… Read more »

Gillingham make the trip to the Vale Park

Port Vale's ground

Gills fan Michael Pilcher continues to set the pace doing the 92, ticking off his second ground in successive weeks. The Kent outfit were off to the Potteries to face Port Vale hoping to avenge a 2-1 defeat from their last visit. Ground: Vale Park 72/92 Game: Port Vale 1 – 1 Gillingham Date: 15/08/2015 Vale Park is one of those lower league grounds that has been sitting on my list for years, and considering Vale have followed my team (Gillingham) through the bottom two tiers for the past six seasons or so, it’s surprising it’s taken me this long…. On the road with the Pools at Bootham Crescent

York City v Hartlepool United in league 2

Pools fan Ross Hamilton-Milburn ticks off his first ground of the new season as Hartlepool travelled to York. Ground: Bootham Crescent 15/92 Game: York 1-2 Hartlepool United Date: 15/08/2015 Thoughts on the ground: Bootham Crescent is one of those proper old fashioned football grounds you normally only ever see on one of the million ‘football from the past’ twitter accounts that seem to exist for some reason. For a start, on the approach to the ground you walk past things called ‘houses’ as opposed to through an industrial estate like most modern stadiums are. The turnstiles look like they’ve come… Read more »

Match-goers will display banners highlighting the cost of match-tickets and call on clubs to cut ticket prices.
